How to make it

  • Plump the raisins in the boiling water by bringing them to a boil in a saucepan and boiling for 5 minutes.
  • Cool the raisins.
  • Cream together shortening and sugar and add eggs and vanilla.
  • Add flour, baking powder, baking soda and spices and mix.
  • Stir in raisins and nuts.
  • Drop from teaspoon on to greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 400 F for 10-12 minutes.
