Cochinitos, Molasses Pig Cookies

- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar shopping list
- 1/4 cup vegetable shortening (2 T. butter, 2 T. olive oil) shopping list
- 1/1/2 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. allspice (my tweak) shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- Mix above together well , and add : shopping list
- 1 cup molasses, stirring it in well; next shopping list
- 1 egg, incorporating all the ingredients, and 1/4 cup milk continually mixing together. shopping list
- 6 cups a-p flour . Gradually add a-p flour, mixing to form a dough. shopping list
- eggwash:--1 egg beat with fork shopping list
- optional--sprinkled maple sugar over eggwash. shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven 350 Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll dough 1/4 inch thick. (I refrigerated the dough, and worked with 1/4 of the dough at a time. ) Was using a pig I cut out of a coolwhip lid, and it was too frustrating and laborious and I ended up making walnut sized balls, and smooshing them into a" lima bean "shape. Keeping the 1/4 inch thickness. Paint tops of cochinitos before baking. with eggwash . Bake 15 - 17 minutes
