How to make it

  • In a very large bowl beat butter,oil, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy
  • Beat in eggs, one at a time only to blend
  • Sift in over the creamed mixture the flour, salt and baking soda
  • Add the sour cream
  • Beat low speed to combine
  • Beat medium speed to blend smooth, a few minutes
  • Place batter into a greased and floured 12 inch deep springform cake pan
  • Bake middle rack at 325F for 90-120 minutes OR tested done in center with a wooden toothpick
  • Cool in pan
  • Cake may be froezen when completely cold
  • Note: recipe can be prepared in two smaller cake pans if desired, baking time will be much less!
  • I also like to vary the flavoring with lemon or almond too
