- 1-6 oz. can tomato paste shopping list
- 1-14.5 oz. can stewed tomatoes shopping list
- 1-14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes shopping list
- 4 celery ribs, finely chopped shopping list
- 1 large green or red pepper, finely chopped shopping list
- 1 medium or large onion, finely chopped shopping list
- 1-1/2 lbs. hamburger, browned shopping list
- salt, be generous shopping list
- pepper, be generous shopping list
- 3 garlic cloves, minced shopping list
- 1 Tbs. marjoram shopping list
- 2 Tbs. basil shopping list
- 1 Tbs. rosemary shopping list
- 1 Tbs. thyme shopping list
- 1 Tbs. oregano shopping list
- 1 tsp. sage shopping list
- 1-1/2 Tbs. crushed red pepper flakes shopping list
- 3 Tbs. EVOO shopping list
- zest of 1 lemon shopping list
- cheese to taste (mozzarella, cheddar and parmesan-we used all) shopping list
- 1 lb. pasta, cooked shopping list
- 1/3 cup beef broth shopping list
How to make it
- In a large (oven safe) dutch oven or large, deep frying pan, brown hamburger with red pepper flakes and rosemary, drain and let set in drainer.
- Add EVOO to same pan, add onions and caramelize, then add garlic and cook for a minute.
- Add celery and peppers, let it all caramelize together.
- Add all the rest of the spices, salt and pepper.
- Add meat mixture, then stew in diced and stewed tomatoes and tomato paste, then add beef broth.
- Let simmer, meanwhile, preheat oven to 350°.
- Add cooked pasta, (at this time if you used a large frying pan, pour into casserole dish) top with cheese and lemon zest.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Serve.
