How to make it

  • Drain and rinse beans.
  • In a deep sauce pot, cook the bacon til crisp and render out all fat.
  • Saute garlic in fat.
  • Dump in beans, beer, tomatoes and seasonings.
  • Cook over medium-low heat for 30 to 45 minutes to reduce the liquid and concentrate the flavors.
  • ******Note, no onions in the recipe unlike the scratch recipe,
  • my friends are extremely sensitive to onions and I adapted the heat level for them too*****

    NOTE: These were even good cold/on the way to room temp. The tomatoes and green chilies added enough heat to liven up the beans and the beer flavor was mellowed out completely. I was happy with the way the speedy version turned out. Thumbs up!
