How to make it

  • Place ground beef and sausage in a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble, and set aside.
  • Add all ingredients to a large kettle. Bring to boil. Add meat and reduce heat to simmer for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.

    The recipe looked good with eliminating the garlic, onions, sausage (doubled the ground turkey/beef), and celery (which my kids don't like cooked). I made it last night and it was good, but REALLY spicy. I had to add more tomato, some cinnamon, and more beans. Maybe next time I won't use the whole 1/4 cup of chili powder that it calls for and maybe a little less cayenne pepper.
