Ingredients

How to make it

  • 1. Mix 1 cup oil with 1 cup ghee in a bowl and keep it aside.
  • 2. Sieve the flour well and add the remaining 1/2 cup oil to the flour and mix it nicely, so that no lumps are found.
  • 3. Take a wide bottomed pan, add the water and the sugar together and keep stirring until it boils.
  • 4. The sugar syrup in the pan, has to reach such a consistency, where, it forms a string when you touch it using your thumb and the index finger. ( You can also test this by adding a drop of it in a small bowl of water, and if it sits like a ball at the bottom of the bowl or if it just glides through the water in a solidified form, then your syrup is of the right consistency)
  • 5. Now slowly add the flour mixture into the syrup, stirring simultaneously.
  • 6. Reduce the flame to a medium-low and keep mixing all the ingredients together. When it gets well blended, start adding the ghee-oil mixture at regular intervals.
  • 7. You will have to keep stirring the whole mixture until it doesn't stick to the bottom of the vessel and leaves out a little oil.
  • 8. Now, transfer the contents to a greased plate and spread it out evenly with a spatula.
  • 9. Once the Mysore pak is warm and firm, cut into any desired shape, using a pizza cutter or knife.
  • ENJOY!!
  • NOTE:
  • a. Do not forget to sieve the flour, because it gives a smooth texture to the Mysore pak.
  • b. It is very important to wait for the correct consistency of the syrup, please stay patient , to enjoy delicious Mysore paks :)
  • c. Without the required oil & ghee, this sweet won't taste good. At the same time, please see to that you don't add excess of it. You will end up with crumbled Mysore paks.
