Old Fashioned Fresh Orange Cake

- 1 large seedless orange cleaned ( ex: naval orange ) shopping list
- 1 cup soft raisins shopping list
- 3/4 cup sour milk( add 2 tsp vinegar or lemon juice to the milk to sour ) shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 1 stick butter or margarine, softened shopping list
- 1 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 1/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- topping: shopping list
- 1/2 cup orange juice from fresh squuuzed oranges shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Grease and flour a 8 x 12 oblong pan or 9 inch bundt type pan
- Cut up orange ,place in blender with raisins and milk and process smooth into a puree
- Place mixture in a bowl
- Add remaining ingredients except orange juice and sugar and use electric mixer and blend well.
- Pour into desired pan. Bake 45 minutes or until cake tests done.
- Remove to rack and carefully invert onto rack only if using a bundt cake
- Immediately drizzle orange juice over hot cake ( it will absorb most of the juice )
- Heavily sprinkle with the sugar
- Cool completely and then chill, if you want cake to firm up more
- Note: 1 oblong or 1 bundt type of cake
