Ingredients

How to make it

  • Generously butter sides and bottom of a 9x13 glass baking dish. Arrange bread slices in the prepared dish in 2 rows, overlapping each slice as you lay them in the pan. Set dish aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk eggs; add half-and-half, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, salt and whisk until blended but not too bubbly.
  • Pour mixture over the bread slices, making sure they are covered evenly with the milk-egg mixture. Spoon some of the egg mixture in between the slices.
  • Cover dish with foil and refrigerate overnight.
  • For Praline Topping, combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and mix well with a wooden spoon. Make this the night before and leave on counter to allow butter to remain at room temperature
  • The next day, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Drop heaping spoonfuls of praline topping evenly over the bread; then gently spread it over the top.
  • Bake for 40 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden. Allow to set for 5 to 10 minutes before cutting into the bread to serve.
