- 2 T toasted sesame oil shopping list
- 2 T hot sauce such as Tabasco or Chinese hot chili sauce (more if you prefer more heat) shopping list
- 2 T powdered ginger shopping list
- 2 T powdered onion shopping list
- 1 T powdered garlic shopping list
- 1 T five spice powder shopping list
- 1 tsp red food coloring shopping list
- Meat shopping list
- 2 slabs of baby back ribs cut into individual bones shopping list
- or shopping list
- 4 lbs pork loin cut into strips across the grain about 1” wide shopping list
- and 2” tall shopping list
How to make it
- Mix all the ingredients together until smooth and don’t skip the booze even if you are a teetotaler as the alcohol breaks down the enzymes in the meat and there is nothing left of the alcohol after cooking.
- Marinate the meat for at least 1 hour – 12 hours (the longer the better) in a metal bowl or in zip lock bags. For safety, double the bag so there is no chance of a leak. The red food coloring will stain anything plastic.
- These ribs are best cooked indoors in the oven as opposed to the outdoor grill.
- Place the ribs on a rack over a pan with 1 inch of water. Preheat the oven to 225º and cook for 2 ½ hours or the loin strips for 1 hour. Brush the ribs or loin strips with honey and cook for 30 minutes longer.
