Chocolate Cherry Bars Recipe
This is a very quick and easy way to make very moist, very delicious chocolate cherry cake bars that are frosted with an even easier recipe for icing.

Ingredients
  • Bars:
  • 1 pkg. chocolate cake mix
  • 21-oz can cherry pie filling (can use sugar free)
  • 1 tsp. almond flavoring
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Frosting:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 Tbsp. margarine or butter
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Directions
  1. Mix together dry cake mix, pie filling, almond flavoring, and eggs. Pour into a greased 10" x 15" baking pan.
  2. Bake at 325 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centr comes out clean.
  3. To prepare frosting, combine sugar, margarine, and milk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  4. Frost bars while they are still warm.

How far ahead can you make these?


A family member used to make these when I was a kid -- I had tried, but never got all the ingredients right so I was never satisfied. THANKS so much -- I am going to be very, very happy here this weekend when I made these!


Linebb956...I think you could safely make these a day ahead of serving them.
