Hot Milk Sponge Cake Recipe
This is a very moist cake that can be enjoyed with or without an icing or topping. Fresh fruit is good as a topping though.

Ingredients
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions
  1. In a saucepan, heat milk and butter until butter melts and milk boils.
  2. Remove from heat and cool.
  3. Add vanilla and stir.
  4. In a bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  6. In a large bowl, beat the eggs until they have a lemony color.
  7. Slowly add sugar and beat until thick and creamy.
  8. Add dry ingredients to egg mixture slowly and beat on low speed.
  9. Add milk mixture and beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  10. Pour into greased and floured pans.
  11. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes if using a tube pan OR
  12. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes for a cake pan.

Alterations


Instead of using white sugar try Brown Sugar.

You can also try cinnamon sugar and apple slices. Once baked the apple slices are right on the top. Nice and cooked and it smells incredible.
