How to make it

  • Combine all ingredients and mix well.
  • Form into 12 patties.
  • Place on a plate and put in the fridge for at least 20 mins.
  • Heat oil or butter and fry patties until heated through and golden brown on both sides.
  • Be very gentle when turning as they will break.
  • ***To freshen cod place in fresh water to cover, overnight or for at least 12 hours. Drain and replace water occasionally.

    My Father was a "child of the Depression" in the 1930's on the Prairies and on relief...the family got Newfoundland's dried salt cod, and he advised "Nail it to a pine plank, soak it in the bathtub for a day, pull the nails, and boil and eat the board"
