How to make it

  • Place the pork in a slow cooker; pour the root beer over the meat.
  • Cover and cook on low until well cooked and the pork shreds easily, 6 to 7 hours or until fork tender.
  • Flip roast half way through.
  • Drain well and shred with two forks.
  • Stir in barbecue sauce and cook on low for an additional hour, add a little water it mixture is too thick.
  • Serve over toasted buns.
  • * Note: the actual length of time may vary according to individual slow cooker.
  • ** spray the pot with oil for an easier clean-up or use a slow cooker liner.

    June 1/16 This is a fantastic recipe. I used a pork loin roast, Barq's Root Beer and a Maple Chipotle BBQ Sauce (store bought). The meat was tender and full of great flavour. This recipe is one of those which you can do again and again using different BBQ sauces and have a different flavour. I served this with rice or if they wished family could have used buns. We also choice rice and worked great. Will be making again. Thank you Brenda for sharing this recipe.
