How to make it

  • 1) In Dutch oven or heavy pot, brown beef tips in vegetable oil.
  • 2) Add chopped onion and cook about 3-4 minutes.
  • 3) Add 2 cups beef stock, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Give good stir.
  • 4) Bring to boil.
  • 5) Reduce heat to low, simmer covered for 1 hour.
  • 6) At about 1 hour, add sliced mushrooms. Stir.
  • 7) Continue to simmer for 1/2 hour - 1 hour.
  • 8) In measuring cup, add 1 cup beef stock. Whisk in about 3 T. Cornstarch. Add to beef and sauce to thicken and create gravy. If needed add more broth and cornstarch mixture till desired thickness.
  • 9) Serve over rice or egg noodles.
  • 10) Enjoy!

    FYI- original recipe is different in a few ways - and It calls for packet of brown gravy mix at end. The sauce the meat cooked in was so rich and delicious, I felt I didn't need the gravy mix cause it was so good as is.
