Picnic Perfect Hero Recipe

Ingredients

1 long loaf of good Italian bread

1/2 pound cooked ham, deli sliced

1/4 pound hard salami, deli sliced

1/4 pound cooked salami, deli sliced

1/2 pound provolone cheese, deli sliced

Olive mixture:

1 clove garlic, chopped

1/3 cup olive oil, more if needed; you can judge the mixture

1/4 cup green olives, chopped

1/2 cup Greek olives, chopped

1/2 cup Gardenia mix, chopped

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

2 teaspoons fresh oregano, chopped

Fresh ground pepper to taste

Directions

In a bowl, mix all ingredients for olive mixture. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Slice bread horizontally.

Spread 1/3 of the olive mixture on bottom piece of bread.

Layer ham and hard salami.

Spread 1/3 of mixture on top of the ham and salami.

Layer cooked salami and cheese.

Spread rest of mixture on top of cooked salami and cheese.

Spread remaining mixture.

Mayonnaise may be desired on top half of bread.

Put top on sandwich. Secure in even sections with toothpicks.

Cut into sections and serve.

If taking to a picnic, wrap tightly in saran wrap, place in well-iced cooler and cut upon arrival.
