Apple Pie In A Jar Recipe

This is a wonderful dessert.

Ingredients
- 7 qts. peeled sliced cooking apples
- 4 1/2 c.of sugar
- 1 c. of cornstarch
- 2 tsp. of cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. of nutmeg
- 10 c. of water
- 3 tbsp. of lemon juice
Directions
- First peel and slice apples.
- Then you can fill quart jars with apples leaving 1 in. head space.
- Now be sure to pack the apples in there, put a few in and smosh down with the handle of a wooden spoon, then a few more and repeat.
- Next make syrup by combining sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water.
- Then you will cook until thick.
- And add lemon juice.
- Now pour syrup over apples in jar, leaving 1/2 inch headspace.
- You want to be sure to run your plastic spatula around the inside of the jar to get the air bubbles out.
- Next place the lids on and screw the rings down just finger tight.
- Process approx. 20 minutes in hot water bath.

This sounds wonderful and a nice way to have homemade pie filling canned in a jar and ready to slap into a pie crust and honestly call it your own. Around the holidays you could decorate the jar and give it as gifts. Now, hows that for a personal touch for that fan who loves your apple pie? I love the canned filling idea! :)
