Ingredients
- 4 cups dried, white beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 ham hock
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Directions
- Fill a Dutch oven with 4 inches of water.
- Add white beans and ring to a boil over medium high heat on stovetop.
- Add ham hock, salt, and pepper.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer covered, for 3 hours, or until desired degree of tenderness.
- Add water as needed to keep beans covered during cooking.

Growing up, this was my favorite meal of all time. My Nannie and Papa, who were from Arkansas, had me over for this dish several times a week. She made white cornbread to go with it, and it was the best! This recipes takes me back, thanks for sharing!!
