Ingredients

How to make it

  • 1. Bring a pot of salted water to boil, add pasta and cook but be sure to not cook to long, al dente or even a touch firmer) Remember it cooks again in oven.
  • 2. Preheat oven to 350.
  • 3. When pasta is done, drain and add a tablespoon of butter and mix well. Set aside. (This will stop pasta from soaking up too much of liquid when cooking in oven)
  • 4. On medium heat, melt one tablespoon of butter
  • 5. When melted add flour and whisk constantly
  • 6. Once a paste forms slowly add milk or cream, whisking constanly
  • 7. When sauce thickens up and any chucks of flour are mixed in, add salt and pepper, dry mustard, onion powder and paprika
  • 8. Turn off heat and add your 1/2 cup of shredded cheese ( I used a little more as I like cheesy). (There is still enough head to melt the cheese)
  • 9. Once cheese is melted and sauce has good consistency, add your butted pasta to sauce pan. Stir until pasta is coated with sauce
  • 10. In a greased oven safe dish with butter, pour your pasta/sauce into it.
  • 11. Add remaining cheese to top
  • 12. Bake 15-20 minutes or till top is nice and bubbly
  • 13. Remove and let sit a few minutes to settle before serving
  • Hints: I top mine with some bread crumbs.
  • Cooks in a dish about 1-2 quarts.
  • Can easily multiple this recipe if cooking for a larger amount of people.
  • I made a mixture of cheddar cheese and gouda, (or cheese of your choice)
  • If you like more seasoned, add what you like and you can add hot sauce to the cheese sauce too!!
