Orange Cake e-mail Recipe I Got

This is an updated version using modern ingredients (including a cake mix) which make it a lot easier to make, but it essentially produces a cake tasting almost identical to an old family recipe from North Carolina- This version was in my mother's recipe box, but I don't know where she got it. Ingredients
- Ingredients: shopping list
- for the cake- shopping list
- 1 box Duncan Hines yellow cake mix shopping list
- 1 11 oz. can of mandarin oranges w/juice shopping list
- 3/4 cup of vegetable oil shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- for the frosting- shopping list
- 1 large can crushed pineapple slightly drained shopping list
- 1 9 oz container of Cool Whip shopping list
- 1 3 oz package of instant vanilla pudding mix shopping list
How to make it
- Preparation:
- Combine the cake mix, eggs, oil and oranges with juice. Mix
- well.
- Pour even amounts in three 9" greased and floured cake pans.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool completely before
- frosting.
- Combine the pineapple and the vanilla pudding mix. Mix well.
- Fold in the Cool Whip. This makes enough frosting to frost all
- three layers and the full outside of the cake.
- This cake should be refrigerated and served cold. Refreshing on
- a hot summer day after a barbecue!
