How to make it
- By layers, fill a deep ovenproof skillet with sliced apples.
- For 7 apples mix ¼ tsp salt with ¾ cup sugar and use to sprinkle over the layers of apple. When the skillet is filled, pour 2 Tbsp molasses over the top and dot with butter bits.
- Cover the skillet and set on the stove, where the apples can heat through and soften, not boil, for 5 minutes. Remove cover and cover with plain pastry and bake for 40 minutes. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
