  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown beef; drain fat. Add next 5 ingredients and simmer. Cook noodles; drain. Mix cream cheese with green onions and sour cream in a small bowl. Very yummy. Our roommates friend told me it was "pretty much the bees knees". I think next time I will use a little less sour cream, and an additional can of tomato sauce, just because it was a little rich. But will for sure make again :)

Hey desertgal, I made this last night. It was very good. A bit rich, but I think I added more cream cheese than called for. I should have took a pic - it looked beautiful - browned the cheese on top a little. I used mozzarella though instead of cheddar. ;')

I just made this for lunch and it was DELICIOUS!!! So glad to find a good recipe using egg noodles, I've had a 1/2 package here that I've been looking for something tasty to use them in. I did have to make a few substitutions, since I was cooking from my pantry, but I'll definitely be making this one again! Here's what I changed: added 1/2 pound spicy breakfast sausage to the hamburger as I didn't have quite enough ground beef, I really like how it increased the flavor so I'll probably do that again even if I had enough beef. I also didn't have green onions, so I chopped up a small yellow onion and threw it in with the meat to cook. I liked the white sauce just like it was, my husband thought it was a little strong on cream cheese, but he's not a fan of cream cheese, so his opinion doesn't count on that score! LOL (I might make a half recipe of the white sauce and mix it half and half with alfredo for next time, since I know he likes that but I found the cream cheese version cheaper and tastier than store bought alfredo)
Oh, and we used whole wheat egg noodles, and couldn't even tell they were whole wheat--this was a great recipe to sneak in some fiber. :)
All in all, delicious, adding to my rotating meal plan for sure and I'll be looking forward to eating it again :)

Okay, yum! I'm still figuring out some of the ins and outs around here. I'm just discovering all the wonderful recipes that people have been sending me, this one included. WOW! Just wanted to say thanks. This looks very good and I look forward to trying it soon. This will be perfect on a chilly day after work. I was raised on casseroles and they still are some of my favorite meals. For cooking and eating. : )
