Roasted Spiced Apples

- 4 tart apples, unpeeled, cored, cut in chunks shopping list
- 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, cold and cut in small pieces shopping list
- 2 tbsp of dark brown sugar shopping list
- sprinkle of cinnamon (to taste) shopping list
- grated rind of one lemon shopping list
- only two passes of a fresh nutmeg on a rasp (just a touch here) shopping list
- 3/4 cup of chopped pecans shopping list
How to make it
- Prep apples as instructed.
- Rub some of the butter on the bottom of an 8 inch square baking dish. Pile in the apples, top with pecans.
- Sprinkle with sugar, remaining butter,cinnamon, lemon rind and nutmeg.
- Bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
- Serve for breakfast with yogurt, or after supper with ice cream.
- The apples get kind of chewy and leathery and they are so good with the toasted nuts and butter.
