Roasted Spiced Apples Recipe

Roasted Spiced Apples Recipe
A little something to eat with yogurt in the morning, or ice cream at night time. Don't peel the apples, the texture adds to the dish.

  • 4 tart apples, unpeeled, cored, cut in chunks
  • 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, cold and cut in small pieces
  • 2 tbsp of dark brown sugar
  • sprinkle of cinnamon (to taste)
  • grated rind of one lemon
  • only two passes of a fresh nutmeg on a rasp (just a touch here)
  • 3/4 cup of chopped pecans

Directions
  1. Prep apples as instructed.
  2. Rub some of the butter on the bottom of an 8 inch square baking dish. Pile in the apples, top with pecans.
  3. Sprinkle with sugar, remaining butter, cinnamon, lemon rind and nutmeg.
  4. Bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
  5. Serve for breakfast with yogurt, or after supper with ice cream.
  6. The apples get kind of chewy and leathery and they are so good with the toasted nuts and butter.
