Another recipe I just purchased this weekend from an estate sale. I have not tried it but have it marked as a must try. We love brats and this one sounds really good to me.

Ingredients
  • 5 bratwurst
  • 1 cup chopped white onions
  • 1 cup chopped granny smith apples
  • 1 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/2 cabbage sliced into 5 wedges
  • 1 tablespoon caraway seeds
  • 12 ounce bottle dark beer
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions
  1. Simmer brats in a skillet with water.
  2. When water evaporates brown brats on both sides.
  3. Add onions and cook until onions are lightly browned.
  4. Add apples and cook until soft.
  5. Add carrots, cabbage, caraway and beer or wine.
  6. Add salt and pepper to taste then cover and simmer for 1 hour.
  7. Serve immediately.
