How to make it

  • Fry or grill the sausages until cooked through.
  • place 1 tbsp of oil in a large oven proof dish and place in the oven on gas mark 7, 210 degrees, ( just the dish with the oil, not the sausages)
  • while the sausages are frying, mix the egg and flour together.
  • Add milk a little at a time blending into a smooth runny paste.
  • take the dish out of the oven and place sausages in warm dish.
  • pour batter over the top of the sausages.
  • place in the oven and cook for 45-50 mins.
  • DO NOT open oven whilst cooking as this will cause the batter to fall.
  • loosen from dish as soon as removed from oven.

If you want extra flavour and are feeling lazy (good do far huh) just cook the sausages in the same dish you intend to make the yorkshire pudding in in the oven for 20 mins with a little oil. The sausages will give of a lot of fat themselves (at least british ones do). Then pour over the yorkshire mix into the hot pan and voila 30 - 40 mins later.

Whoever does the ashing up will like you too as it all goes in one pan.

We always serve with onion gravy and a nice bottle of wine.
