Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tbs baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 (1 & 1/2 sticks) chilled unsalted butter, cut into 1/2″ cubes
  • 3/4 cup + 2 tbs chilled whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup hazelnuts, toasted, husked, coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate pieces (chips, chunks, whatever you prefer)

Directions
  1. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in food processor, blend 5 seconds (or just mix them by hand)
  2. add butter and blend, using on/off turns, until mixture starts to get crumbly
  3. add 3/4 cup cream, blend using on/off turns just until dough starts to come together
  4. turn dough out onto lightly floured surface, sprinkle with hazelnuts & chocolate pieces
  5. gently knead (4 or 5 turns) to mix in nuts and chocolate
  6. shape into 2 equal balls
  7. press out to 6″ round (1/2″ thick), brush with remaining cream, then cut into 6 wedges each (12 total)
  8. arrange wedges on buttered baking sheet (space 1″ apart)
  9. brush tops with remaining 2 tbs whipping cream
  10. bake until puffed and golden, about 16 min), then devour with tea
