How to make it

  • Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in food processor, blend 5 seconds (or just mix them by hand)
  • add butter and blend, using on/off turns, until mixture starts to get crumbly
  • add 3/4 cup cream, blend using on/off turns just until dough starts to come together
  • turn dough out onto lightly floured surface, sprinkle with hazelnuts & chocolate pieces
  • gently knead (4 or 5 turns) to mix in nuts and chocolate
  • shape into 2 equal balls
  • press out to 6″ round (1/2″ thick), brush with remaining cream, then cut into 6 wedges each (12 total)
  • arrange wedges on buttered baking sheet (space 1″ apart)
  • brush tops with remaining 2 tbs whipping cream
  • bake until puffed and golden, about 16 min), then devour with tea
