Chocolate Hazelnut Scones

- 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour shopping list
- 1/3 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 tbs baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 3/4 (1 & 1/2 sticks) chilled unsalted butter, cut into 1/2″ cubes shopping list
- 3/4 cup + 2 tbs chilled whipping cream shopping list
- 1/2 cup hazelnuts, toasted, husked, coarsely chopped shopping list
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate pieces (chips, chunks, whatever you prefer) shopping list
How to make it
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in food processor, blend 5 seconds (or just mix them by hand)
- add butter and blend, using on/off turns, until mixture starts to get crumbly
- add 3/4 cup cream, blend using on/off turns just until dough starts to come together
- turn dough out onto lightly floured surface, sprinkle with hazelnuts & chocolate pieces
- gently knead (4 or 5 turns) to mix in nuts and chocolate
- shape into 2 equal balls
- press out to 6″ round (1/2″ thick), brush with remaining cream, then cut into 6 wedges each (12 total)
- arrange wedges on buttered baking sheet (space 1″ apart)
- brush tops with remaining 2 tbs whipping cream
- bake until puffed and golden, about 16 min), then devour with tea
