Chocolate Hazelnut Scones Recipe

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all purpose flour

1/3 cup sugar

1 tbs baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

3/4 (1 & 1/2 sticks) chilled unsalted butter, cut into 1/2″ cubes

3/4 cup + 2 tbs chilled whipping cream

1/2 cup hazelnuts, toasted, husked, coarsely chopped

1/2 cup dark chocolate pieces (chips, chunks, whatever you prefer)

Directions

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in food processor, blend 5 seconds (or just mix them by hand)

add butter and blend, using on/off turns, until mixture starts to get crumbly

add 3/4 cup cream, blend using on/off turns just until dough starts to come together

turn dough out onto lightly floured surface, sprinkle with hazelnuts & chocolate pieces

gently knead (4 or 5 turns) to mix in nuts and chocolate

shape into 2 equal balls

press out to 6″ round (1/2″ thick), brush with remaining cream, then cut into 6 wedges each (12 total)

arrange wedges on buttered baking sheet (space 1″ apart)

brush tops with remaining 2 tbs whipping cream

bake until puffed and golden, about 16 min), then devour with tea
