Pasta Puttanesca

- 5-6 cups fresh tomatoes, peeled, seeded and crushed (or use two 28-ounce cans Italian tomatoes, drained and crushed) shopping list
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil shopping list
- 1 teaspoon dried hot red pepper flakes shopping list
- 1 1/2 tablespoons capers, drained and rinsed shopping list
- 3 tablespoons black olives (Kalamata or oil-cured), pitted and chopped shopping list
- 1 tablespoon garlic, minced shopping list
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil leaves, minced shopping list
- 4 anchovy fillets, minced (optional) shopping list
- 1 pound dried penne pasta shopping list
- 3/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated shopping list
How to make it
- Cook pasta according to directions
- combine all ingredients
- and toss with pasta

Yours sounds like a more authentic recipe and closer to what I've had in my favorite Italian restaurant than any of the others I've read here. Will try it soon!
