Spicy Mandarin Muffins

- 1 (11 oz) can of mandarin oranges, drained, cut in 2 or 3 pieces shopping list
- 1 1/2 cup of sifted flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup of sugar shopping list
- 1 3/4 tsp of baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/4 tsp of allspice shopping list
- 1/3 cup of softened unsalted butter shopping list
- 1/2 cup of milk shopping list
- 1 egg beaten shopping list
- 1/4 cup of sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 1/4 cup of melted butter shopping list
How to make it
- Drain mandarin oranges thoroughly. In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbles. Add milk and egg, stir until dry ingredients are barely moistened. Gently stir in the oranges. Divide batter between 12 well greased muffin cups. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
- Cool on a wire rack.
- Combine remaining sugar, cinnamon. While hot dip the tops of the muffins in the melted butter and then roll the muffin top in the sugar mixture.
