Strawberry Brulee Recipe

Ingredients

1/3c sugar

2T all-purpose flour

1 egg, lightly beaten

1 1/2c (1%) low-fat milk

1t vanilla extract

1c sliced fresh strawberries

3T brown sugar

Directions

Combine sugar, flour, and egg in a medium saucepan. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Cover and chill thoroughly.

Place strawberries evenly in 6 (3/4 cup) oven-proof ramekins or custard cups.

Spoon custard mixture evenly over strawberries, and sprinkle evenly with brown sugar. Place ramekins on a baking sheet. Broil 5 1/2" from heat (with electric oven door partially opened) 2 to 3 minutes ro until sugar melts. Serve immediately.
