French Toast Casserole

- 1 loaf (10 oz) French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes (10 cups) shopping list
- 8 eggs shopping list
- 3 cups milk shopping list
- 4 tsp sugar shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 3/4 tsp salt, optional shopping list
- Topping: shopping list
- 2 Tbsp butter, cubed shopping list
- 3 Tbsp sugar shopping list
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon shopping list
- maple syrup, optional shopping list
How to make it
- Place bread cubes in a greased 13x9x2-in. baking dish. In a mixing bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt if desired. Pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight. Remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Dot with butter. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the top. Cover and bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes. Serve with syrup if desired.
