How to make it

  • Cut grapefruit into halves then carefully remove fruit.
  • Peel off white membrane and discard seeds.
  • Return fruit to shells then flavor each half with 1 tablespoon Curacao.
  • Divide vanilla ice cream among the shells spreading ice cream to edges.
  • Beat egg whites with cream of tartar then gradually beat in sugar.
  • Continue beating until meringue is stiff.
  • Spread over ice cream and bring meringue over cut edge of shell.
  • Bake in preheated 450 oven for 5 minutes.
  • Serve immediately.
