Jasmine Tea Cooler
From taesma 16 years agoIngredients
- 16 oz (approx) double-strength brewed jasmine green tea shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 4 cups limeade shopping list
- 2 cups lemonade shopping list
How to make it
- Pour sugar into a half gallon pitcher.
- Strain hot tea into pitcher over sugar, stir until sugar is dissolved.
- Add limeade and lemonade. Stir until mixed.
- Chill an hour or until cold. Serve in tall glasses over ice.
- *Preparation Tips*
- --Unlike black teas, green teas should not be brewed with boiling water. Pour the water just as the first little bubbles start to rise, or, bring to a boil, remove from heat and let it stand two or three minutes, then pour over tea leaves. Steep for 4 minutes. Do not oversteep or it will become bitter!
- --Double strength would be 6 grams of tea per 6 oz of water, or about 1 oz of tea per 16 oz of water. Regular strength is about a rounded teaspoonful (regular teaspoon, not a measuring spoon) per cup. Those measures are approximate because different grades and types of teas have different leaf sizes and vary somewhat in their measurements.
- --You don't need the very best quality tea you can find, but it should be complex and rather full-flavored or it will just taste like tangy limeade. Different types of jasmine tea have different ratios of flowery to green taste, it is a matter of personal preference which predominant flavor you prefer.
- --This tastes best with fresh good quality ades like Odwalla brand, but you could use a good frozen concentrate as long as it isn't too sweet--adjust the sugar measurements if needed. Or make your own fresh if you have an abundance of limes and lemons!
