Gotta Leek Recipe
I'm not exactly sure where this comes from but I do believe it's either Dutch or German. We have a couple of favorite ways our family cooks leeks. Hope you enjoy this one.

Ingredients
  • 2 lbs. leeks
  • 2 1/2 T. butter
  • 2 T. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 T. vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Directions
  1. Cut any roots and wilted outer leaves off leeks
  2. Cut into 2 inch lengths
  3. Cover with water
  4. Bring to a boil and simmer for 30 minutes
  5. Drain well
  6. Melt butter and stir in flour
  7. Gradually stir in the milk
  8. Cover over low heat, stirring constantly, until thick and smooth
  9. Add vinegar and salt
  10. Simmer another 10 minutes
  11. Serve up hot and enjoy
