Ingredients

How to make it

  • Wash beans. Cover with water and let stand overnight.
  • To cook, cover and bring to boil, cook 2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let stand 1 hour.
  • Add onion, garlic and bay leaf and return to boiling.
  • Turn down heat and simmer 1 1/2 hours or until beans are almost tender.
  • Add tomatoes, green pepper, chili powder, brown sugar, mustard, oregano, meat and salt.
  • Bring to a boil again, reduce heat, and let cook slowly for 2 hours, or until liquid resembles a medium thick gravy.

    Mmm this sounds really good. Beans are one of the only foods my little ones will both eat so I am definitely gonna try this one this weekend.

    LOL now wouldn't that be something, hope he likes it so he'll leave you alone about the way his mom made beans :) Hey, if it's not the same maybe he'll like it better and you'll be forever in his good graces LOL Enjoy!

    Henri, this just might be the right recipe for us! I just read the ingredients to my husband and he asked me to make it. This sounds great and might just be close enough to you know who's Mom's recipe! Waaaahoooooooo! Thank you for posting it!
