Chocolate Filled Angel Meringue Pie

- 20 round buttery crackers, crushed into crumbs shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 cup chopped pecans shopping list
- 3 egg whites shopping list
- 6 (1.45-ounce) milk chocolate bars shopping list
- 1-8 ounce container frozen whipped topping, thawed OR shopping list
- 1 cup whipped cream shopping list
How to make it
- Combine cracker crumbs, 1/2 cup sugar, and pecans
- Mix well
- Beat egg whites (at room temperature) until soft peaks form
- Gradually add remaining 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time
- Beat until stiff peaks form
- Fold crumb mixture into egg white mixture
- Spread meringue on BOTTOM and SIDES of a greased 9-inch deep-dish pie plate
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes
- Cool
- Place chocolate bars in top of a double boiler
- Bring water to boil
- Reduce heat to low, cook until chocolate melts
- Let cool slightly
- Fold chocolate into whipped topping OR whipped cream
- Spoon into shell
- Chill
