Powdered Sugar Frosting Recipe
This is an easy frosting for sugar cookies .

Ingredients
  • 4 cups of powdered sugar
  • 4 tbs milk or more
  • 1 tsp favorite flavoring vanilla, almond, mint, etc.
  • 1 tbs orange juice or more
  • paste food coloring

Directions
  1. In a large bowl mix 2 tbs of milk , 1 tbs of orange juice and 1 tsp of flavoring with 3 cups of the powdered sugar.
  2. Add more milk (1 tsp at a time) if frosting is too dry or add more sugar if it is too runny.
  3. You need the frosting to be about the thickness of Karo Syrup.
  4. Color as desired
  5. note: if you are using liquid food coloring remember that will effect the consistency of the frosting. It will be the same as adding more liquid.
  6. If decorating sugar cookies it will take 4 to 6 hours for them to completely dry

Does that end up being a crunchy frosting when it's set or does it stay soft like on the store bought cookies that's so popular now?


It is not creamy like a cake frosting. The best way to describe it is that it just sets up... it gets firm without being "hard" or "crunchy".
If you use approx. 1 tbs of frosting on a 3 inch cookie I think you will like the results.
