Maryland Gingerbread Recipe
This is a gingerbread recipe that was taken from a WW II cookbook. You may serve it warm w/butter, applesauce or whipped cream.

  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 3/4 C. brown sugar
  • 3/4 C. molasses
  • 3/4 C. melted butter
  • 2 1/2 t. soda
  • 2 1/2 C. flour
  • 2 t. ginger
  • 1 1/2 t. cinnamon
  • 1/2 t. cloves
  • 1 C. boiling water
  • 1/2 t. nutmeg

Directions
  1. Add beaten eggs to sugar, molasses and melted butter. Add flour and other dry ingredients. Add hot water last. Bake in a greased, shallow pan or cupcake pans. Bake 40 minutes at ~350.
