Ingredients
  • 8 slices white bread
  • 12 ounces canned water packed white tuna
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 small green pepper finely chopped
  • 1 red onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup celery finely chopped
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 eggs beaten
  • 2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Directions
  1. Cut four slices of the bread into 1/2" cubes.
  2. Layer bottom of a square baking dish with bread cubes.
  3. Mix tuna, onion, green pepper, celery and mayonnaise together.
  4. Spread mixture over diced bread.
  5. Trim crust from remaining four slices of bread and place on top of tuna.
  6. Mix beaten eggs and milk together and pour over top of bread being careful to cover all bread.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap then place in refrigerator over night.
  8. Remove from refrigerator and warm to room temperature.
  9. Remove plastic wrap and bake at 325 for 20 minutes.
  10. Remove from oven and sprinkle cheese and paprika on top.
  11. Return to oven and bake 15 minutes more at 325.
  12. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Yum! I wonder if I could substitute reg. mayo with grapeseed mayo?


I was getting all excited about this new and different tuna recipe! Then I saw "refrigerate overnight." Aw, man! Oh well, will definitely plan ahead and make this sometime soon! Bookmarked and printed - thank you.
