Elephant Ears Recipe
This is my Grandmothers recipe. I love making them for dessert.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm milk
  • 2 tsp yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 cups flour

Directions
  1. Mix the first 5 ingredient and then gradually add the flour.
  2. Roll into a ball and put into a well greased bowl and let rise in the oven with the light on for 30 minutes.
  3. Put some oil in a deep frying pan and get it good and hot.
  4. Drop in batter and fry.
  5. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

Sounds good, do you roll out the batter (like tortillas) before frying them? The elephant ears I have seen where flat and very good!


I sometimes roll them out or I cut them with a star or a circle cookie cutter, just plop them in. I guess I forgot to say that! Thanks.
