How to make it

  • Combine sugar, flour, salt and nutmeg.
  • Beat 4 egg yolks and 2 egg whites.
  • Add to dry ingredients.
  • Beat well then add milk gradually and stir in melted butter.
  • Pour in unbaked pie shell/
  • Bake at 400 for 30 minutes.
  • Beat 2 egg whites with sugar.
  • Spread over pie.
  • Bake at 325 for 15 minutes.

    Just made this recipe. Haven't tasted it yet, but it looked pretty decent. I used 1/2 tsp nutmeg and 1/4 tsp cinnamon. Baked for the first time 35 min and reduced my second baking time by five minutes.

    If you like a lot of meringue, I would double the second egg whites and sugar and add 1/4 tsp (approx) cream of tartar. Whip to stiff peaks, but don't over whip.
