Buttery Chicken Kiev Recipe
I love Making this dish for company, cause hey always say "I know you can do a lot with chicken, but, I didn't know you could make it taste this way before."

Ingredients
  • 4 Boneless ,Skinless Chicken Breast Halves
  • 1 Tablespoon Chopped Onions
  • 1 Clove of Garlic
  • 1/2 of a 1/4lb. Stick of Butter (chilled)
  • 1 Egg ( Beaten well)
  • 1 Tablespoon Water
  • 1/4 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Well Crushed Croutons (Any Flavor)
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Cooking Oil

Directions
  1. Rinse Chicken and pat dry.
  2. Put each Breast half between 2 pieces of plastic wrap.
  3. Lightly pound into rectangle to about 1/8 inch thick.
  4. Remove Plastic Wrap.
  5. Sprinkle with a little Salt and Pepper.
  6. Sprinkle chopped Onions and Garlic on Chicken.
  7. Cut chilled butter stick into 4, 2 1/2 inch sticks.
  8. Place Butter Sticks in the center of each Chicken piece.
  9. Fold in sides and roll up Chicken like a jelly roll pressing together sides to seal.
  10. Stir together Egg and Water.
  11. Coat Chicken with Flour and dip in Egg mixture.
  12. Coat Chicken with crushed Croutons.
  13. Cover and Chill for 1 hour ( can be for as much as 24 hours).
  14. after Chicken is chilled, Melt 1 Tablespoon of Butter and add Cooking Oil. Add Chicken rolls to Oil.
  15. Cook over Medium/High heat for about 5 minutes or until golden brown.(turning to brown all sides.
  16. Transfer to a 2 quart rectangle baking dish.
  17. Bake in oven for 15-18 minutes at 400 degrees, or until Chicken is no longer pink in the middle.
  18. Spoon drippings over Chicken and Serve.
  19. *For Cheesy Chicken Kiev, Substitute butter sticks with any soft (good melting) Cheese you wish.

Was looking for a chicken recipe to make for tonights dinner and just found it....I've had kiev before but never made it...Wish me luck..;-0

Alterations


I've found that, with a dish like this, you can omit the garlic and substitute some Boursin cheese for butter -- the result is extremely tasty. If you keep the butter, you can always add some fresh herbs, or finely chopped parsley.
