Double Orange Scones

- 1 c. flour shopping list
- 1 c. whole-wheat flour shopping list
- 3 TB sugar shopping list
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- 2 tsp. grated orange peel shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/3 c. unsalted butter shopping list
- 1/3 c. milk shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1/2 c. mandarin oranges, drained and chopped shopping list
How to make it
- In a large bowl, combine the flours, sugar, baking powder, orange peel and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a small bowl, whisk milk and egg. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Stir in oranges.
- Turn onto a floured surface; knead 10 times. Pat into a 6" circle. Sprinkle with sugar. Cut into 8 wedges. Separate wedges and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Meanwhile in a small bowl make ORANGE BUTTER and serve with warm scones.
- ORANGE BUTTER:
- 1/2 c. unsalted butter, softened, mixed with 2 TB orange marmalade.
