Apple Crisp
From melissity 16 years agoIngredients
- For fruit layer: shopping list
- 10 good-sized apples (may only need 7-8 apples if they're larger, or may need a couple more if small) - also, I like Cortland apples the best! shopping list
- 1/2 cup of water shopping list
- 1 cup sugar (or Splenda) shopping list
- *optional: cinnamon shopping list
- For topping: shopping list
- 2 cups flour shopping list
- 1 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 2 sticks butter (best with real butter, not margarine) - melted shopping list
- cinnamon shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Lightly grease (or spray) a 9" x 13" cake dish.
- Peel and slice apples into bite-size pieces - the more thinly sliced they are, the quicker it will bake.
- Spread apples evenly in cake dish.
- Sprinkle water over apples.
- Sprinkle sugar over apples.
- If desired, sprinkle a little cinnamon on apple layer also.
- In a large bowl, mix topping ingredients: flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and cinnamon. Mixture will be a bit chunky.
- Sprinkle topping mixture evenly over apple layer.
- Cover with foil and bake 45 min. to 1hr - check at 45 min. - you want the apples to be really soft, but don't bake too long or the topping will get too hard.
- Let cool and enjoy! :)
