Turkey Chili With A Kick

- 2 Tablespoons butter shopping list
- 2 pounds ground turkey shopping list
- 1 large onion, chopped shopping list
- 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped or minced shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can whole tomatoes shopping list
- 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed shopping list
- 1 (15 1/2-ounce) can white navy beans, drained and rinsed shopping list
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce shopping list
- 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste shopping list
- 2 to 3 Tablespoons chili powder shopping list
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce shopping list
- 1 medium green bell pepper, cut into 1/2 to 1 inch pieces shopping list
- 4 ounces (1 cup) cheddar cheese, shredded shopping list
How to make it
- Melt butter in a 4 quart saucepan until just sizzling.
- Add turkey, onion and garlic.
- Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned (10 to 12 minutes).
- Reduce heat to medium.
- Stir in all remaining ingredients except green pepper and Cheddar cheese.
- Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until heated through (25 to 35 minutes).
- Stir in green pepper.
- Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until green pepper is heated through and somewhat softened (3 to 5 minutes).
- To serve, spoon chili into bowls and top each serving with at least 2 tablespoons of cheese.
