Ingredients
  • 3 CUPS SIFTED CAKE FLOUR
  • 2 CUPS SUGAR
  • 1 TABLESPOON OF BAKING POWDER
  • 1 TEASPOON SALT
  • 1 1/2 CUPS SHORTENING, AS IN CRISCO
  • 3/4 CUP MILK
  • 6 LARGE EGGS
  • 2 TEASPOON VANILLA
  • 1/2 CUP CHOCOLATE SYRUP
  • 10 OR 12" BUNDT PAN, GREASED AND FLOURED

Directions
  1. COMBINE ALL IN LARGE BOWL EXCEPT THE CHOCOLATE SYRUP, BEAT ON LOW SPEED UNTIL BLENDED.
  2. BEAT ON HIGH AFTER BLENDED FOR 10 MINUTES, YES 10 MINUTES.
  3. COMBINE 1 CUP OF BATTER WITH CHOCOLATE SYRUP, SET ASIDE.
  4. DIVIDE REST OF PLAIN BATTER IN 1/2 AND POUR INTO PAN.
  5. SPOON HALF THE CHOCOLATE MIXTURE
  6. SPOON THE OTHER HALF OF WHITE BATTER
  7. TOP WITH REMAINING CHOCOLATE
  8. GENTLY SWIRL WITH KNIFE
  9. COVER WITH FOIL, AFTER 50 MINUTES REMOVE FOIL (THIS BAKES FOR A TOTAL OF60 MINUTES, CHECK BEFORE REMOVING.
  10. COOL IN PAN 10-15 MINUTES BEFORE REMOVING.

Thanks for this recipe. I also thought that marble cakes were too dry. I have found that some recipes are just better with Crisco. I am really looking forward to this one! Marble cakes just look so neat when you slice them! May make it today! :)
