How to make it

  • In a deep 12 inch skillet, heat onions and 1 inch of water over high heat
  • Reduce to low and simmer for 8 – 10 minutes or until onions are just tender
  • Drain, cool onions under cold running water and drain again
  • Peel onions leaving a bit of root end to hold shape (skins will slip off easily)
  • Wipe skillet dry
  • In the same skillet cook onions and remaining ingredients over medium to medium high ,stirring and shaking skillet often, until onions are glazed and caramel in color, about 3 – 5 minutes
