A creamy mac & cheese that goes well as a side dish. My family devours this dish

Ingredients
- 1-1/2 C elbow macaroni cooked and drained
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- dash pepper
- 2 C milk
- 1/4 c finely chopped onion
- 8 oz extra sharp cheese
Directions
- In a saucepan, Melt butter
- blend in flour,slat,pepper
- add 2 C milk and cook & stir until bubbly & thick
- add cheese and (onion if desired)
- stir until melted
- mix cheese sauce with the macaroni
- turn into greased (buttered) 1-1/2 quart casserole
- bake at 350* preheated oven about 35-45 min or until top is golden brown.
