This is a different take on pizza made with a loaf of French bread. The original recipe called for uncooked/raw ground meat but I'm not overly thrilled with that idea so I cook mine.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 2-6 oz. cans tomato paste
  • 2 cans (2-1/4 oz. each) sliced ripe olives, drained
  • or as many sliced green olives as you want or no olives at all
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. snipped chives
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder or 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 loaf (20 inches) French bread, halved lengthwise
  • 8 oz. sliced mozzarella cheese(NOT processed)
  • Note: sliced tomatoes, onions, pineapple chunks-sliced in half can also be added

Directions
  1. Saute ground beef and drain.
  2. Combine cooked beef, tomato paste, olives.
  3. Parmesan cheese, chives, salt, oregano, garlic powder or minced garlic and pepper.
  4. Spread to the edges of the cut surface of the bread.
  5. Place on greased 15" x 10" baking pan.
  6. Bake @ 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
  7. Top with mozzarella cheese, return to the oven for 5 minutes or until cheese melts.
  8. Makes: 4-6 servings.
