How to make it

  • Cream shortening gradually adding sugar.
  • Cream until light and fluffy then add eggs and beat vigorously.
  • Add lemon juice, lemon peel and water.
  • Sift together flour, salt and baking powder.
  • Add sifted dry ingredients and oatmeal mixing well.
  • Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 375 for 15 minutes.

    Sorry, you didn't like them. I've made them on several occasions and they are light, fluffy and delicious.

    This is an awful recipe! If I had the power to delete it I would because I don't want anyone else to go to all the work to prepare the cookies and then be horribly disappointed! The cookies flattened out to the thickness of a postage stamp, then burned around the edges, then had to chiseled off the pan.
