How to make it

  • Draw a picture on a styrofoam meat tray with markers.
  • Cut it out.
  • Place on foil-covered baking sheet.
  • [Adult] place cut-out in 300 degree F. oven.
  • Remove from oven and cool.
  • Add string for a pendant or an ornament, a magnet for a refrigerator holder, or a clasp for a decorative jewelry pin.

    It depends on the thickness of the styrofoam. If you have used the store bought shrinkies, you notice that they curl up when they are heated. They start to lay back out when they have reached thier max shrink point. I kinda go by that. Kids want to watch them shrink anyway so you always have your eyes on them. Remember they are HOT when they come out but they will stick to the pan if you do not move them right away.
